Caleb Smith, Managing Partner of Spire, is the primary visionary behind the company's structure and strategy. Smith joined Spire in 1997, serving in project and asset management for five years before assuming the role of company President in 2002. In 2014 Smith removed himself from the operational hierarchy, handing the Presidency over to long time Senior Vice President, Jon Ruff.

Smith is actively involved in charitable works, including Spire's own Children and the Arts Foundation, a vision realized by Smith. He also volunteers time and funding to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, is active in local commercial real estate charities and The Wildflower Orphanage in South Korea.

Smith currently serves on the Board of Directors for AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Spire, Smith worked as an independent contractor, researching and analyzing Russia's emerging securities and other markets. Early in his career, Smith was an analyst at BDS Securities in New York City, concentrating on bankruptcies in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. with majors in sociology and philosophy/religion.
